I'M HURTING--WHAT DO I DO?

We are living in a world full of hurt. But there is hope in the midst of hurting. Yes, because there is a God who cares and who promises to protect and provide. A God that wants to hear from us and walk with us through our lives. The question many ask is why do we hurt? Why does God allow it? How long can I hang on? How long until things change?

This is one of the reasons why I am called to teach and raise up a solid teaching of God’s word. Even in these hard times God is with you. He wants us to reach out to Him. God has a plan that we know nothing about. He wants us to trust Him and trust that He is in control. God’s word can bring comfort to your life, whether it is pain or illness from a physical situation or a financial meltdown. Get into His word. Let it speak to your heart. Soak in His promises.

Some of the things we face daily are depression, feeling discouraged, and feeling impatient. We even sometimes get so low we start doubting God. So, what do you do when you are at the point that you don’t know what to do? Sometimes you might think you are sure about what you need to do; then fear shows up.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

He says He will hold us up. He will comfort us. He is looking for us to lean on Him. Trust Him. If we can trust God for our salvation, we need to trust him for everything in our life.

At other times you want to make a decision but lack the courage to step out in faith. When you feel uncertain about making a decision, you need to know in your heart that God will give you the courage you need. It is important to remember God loves you, He wants to help you, and lead you into all he has for your life. You need to get this way down in your heart. No doubt is allowed. Just faith in the Father.

Seek God’s will. Pray, meditate in His word. These prayer times give us the certainty and comfort we need. Ask God to open your eyes and ears so you will be able to hear from him and see what your next step should be.

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

God will give you strength for every situation you face. Believe it, receive it. When you rely on His power, you will run and not be weary, that’s Gods promise to you.

Let’s say you’re facing financial difficulties, financial problems can build up incredible stress, worry and anxiety. You can get so preoccupied about how you will ever pay these bills off. instead of turning to God for wisdom and direction. This a vital step toward financial freedom and worry. His word is filled with the knowledge and insight you need for getting through these tough times.

Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

God knows your needs and will provide for you in ways you can’t even imagine.

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

He has promised to supply all your needs, according to the riches and in His perfect knowledge, unlimited power and an unshakeable love that He has for you.

Psalms 34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.

One of the things you really need to do is totally surrender our lives to God. Trust in Him. Meditate on Him and His will for your life. The word surrender means: an act of yielding or giving up our way of doing things and going to God and seeking His way of doing things.

Sometimes after people reach a certain age, they start thinking I’ve worked all my life and I don’t have a thing to show for it. Then, anger or depression can show up. Don’t let that happen to you. Pray and accept what God has for you. He has a plan for your life that you can’t see.

Ephesians 4:26-27 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil.

Don’t ever let anger control your thoughts. Anger and depression will cause you to want to give up and give into the world and your flesh.

The title of this lesson is what do I do when I’m hurting? What do you do, when you don’t know what to do? The answer is simple: You need to go to God, and say to God, I surrender all.

Psalms 24:18 The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

The word "nigh" means close to. When you are broken, God is near, just waiting for you to turn to Him, so that He can help you. A contrite spirit is when you admit if you have done wrong and want to make it better. Even if you are in a bad situation because of your choices and decisions, you do not have to continue to hurt. Just be honest with God, in your heart. Sincerely, want to do whatever it takes to make things right. When you surrender all you have to God, you will get all that God has for you. It gives Him permission to work on your behalf. This is when you will see things change in your life.

Stay in the word,

Brother Andy
