You have DOMINION OVER SATAN AND EVIL SPIRITS

Part 1

The problem today is most people, even Christians, do not want to admit that demonic and evil forces are real. It is a shame that a great country like America, with bibles and churches almost on every corner, the people know less about demonic power than the people in Africa or Tibet. Ministers of our generation have not informed the people of the reality of demonic power.

There are three sources of power common to human understanding:

1. The divine power or power that precedes from the omnipotence of God our Father.

2. Satanic power or power coming from Lucifer or Satan, the fallen archangel.

3. Human power, or the power of man, this third power is a neutral force that can be directed by the Heavenly or demonic powers...

God has given man the right to choose his life style and destiny, he created man to rule and have dominion over the total of creation.

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

So, who is the devil and what are demons? Satan the devil is mentioned in the bible more than two hundred times.

Ezekiel 28: 14-15 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

Satan was created an archangel, one of the highest order of God’s creation. Satan was not content to be the beautiful intelligent creature of God’s creation, and the highest order of angels, he wanted a position that was equal to Gods. He was perfect in beauty and evidently the first created being, also possible that before his fall he led musical praise to God.

Satan fell because of his greed and lust. Having a multitude of iniquities, (pride and greed), these are major tools he uses in tempting man to sin. How many people commit sins out of pride of possession and pride of physical beauty? If these could produce iniquity in the “cherub” how easily will they produce iniquity in sinful flesh like ours?

The devil is not an influence or an idea or some design, he is an evil spirit that wages war against human beings, especially Christians. He is full of pride and with pride comes “contention”. Contention means strive and being proud. The devil is spoken of as possessing personal characteristics: heart, pride speech, knowledge, power, desire and lust.

What are demons?

Demons are fallen angels that are aligned with Satan. Jesus speaks of the everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Revelation 12:7-9 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

The great dragon called that old serpent. He is also called the devil and Satan, which deceived the whole world, was cast out of Heaven into the Earth, and his angels were cast out with him. These angels are the demons or evil unclean spirits the bible speaks of. Their name comes from the Latin word daemon, meaning evil spirit. And from the Greek word daimon, means a divinity.

Demons are ageless; from the bible we understand that large numbers of demons roam the earth and the air. Since they do not die, they have been in the world since the beginning of time. These demons are personalities without bodies, and they are highly organized. As fallen spirits they desire to dwell in a body, in order to manifest themselves.

They are angry with God because of their fallen state, their prime motive is to destroy what God loves or creates: especially man.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

When someone who is possessed of a devil dies, that evil spirit “demon” immediately seeks a dwelling place in another person. They cannot just walk into any person’s life; they must find a human with an open door.

If he is a spirit of lust, he will seek a lustful person, if he is a spirit of anger, he seeks to possess a person who has little control over his temper. A spirit of insanity will seek to enter a person’s mind who is focused on the negative like fear, anxiety and depression.

In the high places mentioned in Ephesians 6:12 Satan and his demonic angels have their base of operations. Jesus dealt with demons constantly, casting them out of people, and giving his disciples the power to set people free. The Holy Spirit had not yet come.

Matthew 10: 1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

Luke 9:1-2 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

Very often demons name themselves, the spirits in the demon possessed man called themselves legion. We must realize that the demons are liars as their leader Satan is and may not tell the truth about their names, numbers or strength. They also vary in wickedness. Some can be more wicked than others.

Matthew 12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

This person needs to be filled with God. His spirit cannot be filled with Satan if it is full of God and his word. Demons also vary in power and they seem to know the names of those who rebuke them and exorcise them. An empty and confused soul becomes a sign to the devil, like an empty house for rent, Satan is happy to take up the vacancy.

As John wrote, Jesus said the devil is a thief, whose threefold work is to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. Demons set the stage for the antichrist, and the main props in this grand deception are religion and demon worship. Jesus told his disciples that false christ’s and false prophets would arise, showing signs and wonders to seduce the people.

Acts 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

Demons believe in God, their belief is not one of faith and trust and commitment, rather it is one of knowledge. Demons have willpower, they oppose the saints and have doctrines. They abide not by the truth. But the one thing we all need to remember is what they are subject to. They are under the sovereignty of the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

One cannot hope to deal with the subject of demon power without expecting one question above all others…. Can a Christian have a demon? Can an evil spirit enter and possess a believer? The controversy on this issue rages around a theory of recognition and definition. Who is a Christian? And what can happen in his or her life?

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

As a Christian, we must first submit ourselves to God. That means that we allow Him to lead us in our lives. Then when we resist the devil, he will flee.

Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

The bible emphatically states, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. This is the position of the born-again believer. In My name shall they cast out devils. The Christian should not fear the devil or his demons, he or she should cast him out… dethrone him, exorcise him. However, a person who identifies himself or herself as a Christian and goes to fortune tellers, plays the Ouija board, and depends on horoscopes for guidance is an open door for the entrance of the evil ones. Satan himself and the demons that serve him inhabit the nations of this world and seek to dominate them.

Satan is called the god of this world for a good reason. His evil spirits which no one can number have their residence in the atmosphere of the planet Earth. Man’s history from the beginning until now is laced with conflicts and crises in which the devil is weakening the kingdoms by war, pestilence, famine, moral degradation and every conceivable means. Demon power has dominated the nations in the past and threatens to do so in America.

Witchcraft, the occult and sensual evil has never been as open in America as it is right now. We are in a time when the devil is seeking to conquer America, if our generation fails to take authority over the devil and his demons, our children and their children could live in a country that is tyrannized by a demon possessed dictator. The devil has not changed and is still very real. Demons exist today and they are always seeking ways to enter human bodies. The Christian has nothing to fear: for greater is He that is in you, the Holy Spirit, than he, Satan and his demonic force, that is in the world. Pray and meditate on these scriptures to help you overcome the devil when he comes against you.

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

When John is saying, ye are of God, it means Christ in us, and the meaning, have overcome them, the word them means any spiritual thing that tries to come against you, and tries to harm you.

1 John 5: 4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Whosoever is born of God means to not just acknowledge Jesus is the son of God, but to accept His Son, Jesus Christ, as the Lord of your life. And through this acceptance we have victory that overcomes the world.

We do have to be alert. When you play with fire, you can get burned. If you carelessly go into Satan’s territory, you can open yourself up to his evil work.

Recognize Demon Power

Being in the ministry of deliverance, I said, at one time: “there will be more demonic activity, more people oppressed, and possessed, than the world has ever known before in America.” This was in the eighties. This was before the revival of the occult and had reached the proportions it has today in America. During the time Jesus was here on earth, demon power was more evident than any previous time.

Until now; half the world is either depressed, oppressed or possessed by the devil. The other half doesn’t believe the devil exists, and the devil attempts to sees to it the two never meet. Demonic power can be seen more easily and more often in crimes against people, property and society than anywhere else. The Thief has been busy and gaining ground. This explains why we are seeing such widespread activity of demons and people openly worshiping him in religion.

As people become increasingly depleted spiritually and the idea of God grows dimmer and dimmer, people become as and undefended fortress, in which these evil powers have an easy access. It is so sad to see people become victims of satanic depression and obsession.

A Christian has no reason to fear, but they do need to be aware of their right to the power and authority of Jesus’ name. The devil seldom takes over a person’s life all at once. He does it a little at the time, step by step. Sometimes he is able to take complete control quickly, but usually it is a slow process over a period of weeks, months, or even years. Demons begin with the smallest amount of demonic power that hurts a person and continue until the person is completely overwhelmed. One small step in giving into temptation leads to the next, and next, until a person is overwhelmed.

You can break free and return to Jesus… Just confess your sin, where you gave in to temptation, repent and turn from your sin. Re-confirm that Jesus is your Lord and ask Him to take control and help you walk a holy life with Him.

Stay in the Word,

Brother Andy
